The Zoo

We went to the Phoenix Zoo on Saturday. The city has a Culture Pass that you can check out through the library. If gives you free admission to different museums and places around the valley. The zoo is always checked out, but we finally got one. Otherwise it costs $18/person. The zoo is not cool enough for us to spend $36 to go to it. We had such nice weather. It cooled down so was only about 85 degrees. And it was their Pumpkin Palooza day. So animals weren’t moving too much, but we still had fun.

Gage didn’t really enjoy sitting on the lion. Even Jeff couldn’t get him to smile. He was a little tired.

As it was the Zoo’s Halloween Celebration, they had a little pumpkin area set up. We couldn’t resist getting some pumpkin/Halloween pictures.

This might have been Gage’s favorite part of the day. He actually got to play with something.

Here he was mad because we wouldn’t let him chew on the pumpkins or the straw.

Gage is funny. He would much rather look at all the people around, then the animals. Although the animals weren’t moving, and the people were, so I don’t know if I blame him.

This lion was posed on top of the rock. He also didn’t move, but it was a great picture. Too bad our camera is small, and kind of old, and doesn’t have much zoom.

I guess Gage did look at some of the animals.

His new trick is turning around in the stroller. You have to have him strapped in, with shoulder straps, or he turns around and says “hi.”

He starts sitting down, but will stand up. Even if we are moving.

And he has found the cup holders. I always store my keys and phone here when we go on walks. It did not take long for him to figure out that there is always something good in there.

Gage gets strapped in every time now. And we enjoyed our walk around the zoo.

Go Cougars!

Gage finally decided to cheer on the Cougars.
He must be good luck because they finally won!

At least it's dead...

When I went to do the dishes this morning, I opened the door and this is what I found...
Look closer and you can see a little better...

Yep, a scorpion. Squashed by the door. Next to clean dishes. Gross.

Doctor Visit

We took Gage for his 6 month check up on July 9. He weighs 18 pounds (66 percentile) and is 26.5 (55 percentile) inches tall. We love our doctor, but the nurse was horrible. She seriously took about 30 seconds in between each shot that he got. He didn't cry for the first shot, he cried for the 2nd and he really was bawling by the last one. Usually the nurses get all the shots finished in about 2 seconds total.
The doctor was taking forever to come see us. So we decided to take some pictures. Gage was having fun with the paper on the exam table. As soon as we took out the camera he just stared at the camera.

Finally a smile.

And back to the paper...
We also took a video of him going at the paper. By the time the nurse came in there was no paper left!

Memorial Day Cake

I've wanted to decorate a 'fancy' cake for awhile now. I decided to do it for Memorial Day. Then found out that everyone (Isaac, Caleb, Donavon, Amanda, and Amanda's family, Uncle Chris, Aunt Becky and Brandon) would be at Parker's on Sunday. So I made it a day early. More people to eat it means less for just me. It was great, it all got eaten.
Don't look too closely. This was my first cake and my first time even touching fondant, let alone making it. Inside it was yellow cake with cheesecake filling and fresh blueberries and strawberries. It was yummy! I think it might make a better 4th of July cake!

Gage Laughing

This video is only six seconds long but it shows Gage laughing. He will go on like this for a couple of minutes.

Gage 4 Months

We take pictures every month on the 3rd. Here Gage is exactly 4 months old. He weighed 15 lbs 4 oz. and was 25.5 inches long. He is such a good child and he loves smiling...even when he is tired.
