When we moved into our apartment we noticed this little box on the wall. We didn't really pay much attention to it and never had any problems. That is no problems until early, early Saturday morning. Friday night we played some games with some friends and stayed up a little later than normal. Nothing too bad. But then in the middle of the night we started hearing some beeping. It would beep twice, and then a few seconds later beep again. It was horrible. Finally at about 4 in the morning Jeff got up to try to turn it off. He figured out it was this little box, but couldn't turn it off. I finally got up and pushed a lot of buttons...just to make it louder and an actual alarm and finally it turned off. Maintenance finally showed up to turn fix it. The guy ended up unhooking the battery. He left and the beeping began again. This time he came back, took the battery, and did what I had done before. He pushed a bunch of buttons before it turned off. But not before we were completely annoyed.

That's really funny. I'm sure it wasn't funny for you though in the middle of the night. It reminds me of our old house. There was this carbon Monoxide detector that sometimes went off while we were sleeping. The first time it went off we actually called 911 thinking that we had carbon monoxide in our house. It turned out that it was just defective and luckily taking the batteries out worked for us.
